PLUTO, YOU KNOW

New wave lyricist and homie JimmyHennec is continuing to burn up the radio waves and stages down in South Georgia/North Florida area. With his hit single "BYE BYE" produced by "The Beat Fanatix" he has become a rising star throughout all of Georgia and Florida. PAULO PASCUAL

Now, me and this menswear genius go way back! Allan Francisco, born in the Phillipines and moved to the states at an early age was blessed with unusual talent. I met Allan back in 2001. Enrolled at Bauder college in Atlanta, GA with a major in Fashion Design. Bauder College of Design back then only concentrated on women's wear, but Allan had different plans. Francisco loved to design mens clothing especially denim. He would construct his own denim pants/taliored suits and even create formulas for various washings, whiskerings and sandings techniques out of his dorm room. I knew this guy was a diamond.

After graduating in 2003 from Bauder College he started his path of finding his calling in life. Went back to Massachusetts and became head merchandiser at Forever 21 and H&M. Allan worked there for 3 years and moved to New York City to take menswear by storm. He started interning with Ilan O. Head Designer for streetwear brand Drunkynmunky, but with his persuasive personality and amazingly creative concepts landed a design position with major urban brand Coogi, which design studio was right next door on the 66thFL of the Empire state building. If you can remember when Coogi started getting major publicity back in 2005 when the brand revamped its image and started experimenting with MORE color and fresh concepts...yeah that was Allan's doing! His debut collection that blow out the store was the "Native collection." Coogi lovers couldn't get enough!

After a short stint of 2 years at Coogi, he landed a Associates design position with Argyle Culture a more luxurious mens brand created under the mastermind of Russell Simmons Classic lifestyle label Phat Farm. He worked closely with Creative Director Kevin Leong, creating color pallete, designing styles, fabric sourcing and coordinating development. While working there he explored the world of freelance and designing and developing menswear for various private labels in NYC. During this period he was approached by up and coming luxe military brand "CAVI," well known for there military button downs with exclusive metal pendants and ribbons. Allan started designing on a freelance contract with them for the next 2 years until they hired him fulltime as "Head Designer."

WOW!! Allan is definitely a mover and shaker. Currently Francisco is swamped with designing and developing for CAVI as they continue to get major accreditation in the growing fashion industry. In his free time Allan is working on his line of luxe men's accessories "Paulo Pascual." The collection consisting of eyewear, silk ties and scarves, footwear and timepieces.

I'm really curious of what's in store for this menswear puppet-master!

WE ARE LISTENING TO... SHYVONNE

She is a soul singer and song writer hailing for Harlem World in New York City. Shyvonne has been singing for over ten years. She's mastered the art of marketing and PR with some of the entertainment industry's top companies. And got a great foot in the door singing back up for Estelle after coming back to New York after completing college.

She has a bright bubbly smile, eclectic personal style and ever changing hair color set you up to not expect the strong soulful voice to belt out of her. She writes about the things that as young women, we go through everyday. I personally love how she describes the situations we go through with dudes and paints relate able pictures with her lyrics. She works with a team of some of the hottest new producers in the game, including Precize, Melo-X and Kingdom. Her music is a mix of everything NYC, some electro, experimental, rock, r & b, soul, techno, dance and pop. She gives them all to me!

She performs across the country and the U.K. This fly mama has quite a buzz going. She has even opened up for artists such as Dwele and rocked the stages at college homecomings. Witnessing one of her live performances is a treat! Especially when she covers club favorites like Robin S' "Show Me Love."

Shyvonne isn't signed, but as we sit tight and wait for her to drop an album, we rock out to her music via

TEXAS CUTIE HOLDING DOWN GRAPHICS IN THE NY STREETS

She's a bright young lady in so many way. You will notice her style and if you have the pleasure of meeting her, you will pick up on her Houston, Texas accent.

She is Kalyn Bias, graphic and fashion designer known to the art world as Missie Rich. This 25 year old bubbly fellow Hello Kitty lover made her way to the great land of New York City to pursue her dreams of breaking down the barriers in the graphic and fashion industry. Upon landing in the city, she hooked up with some of the hottest chicks roaming the NYC streets, such as Roxy Cottontail and even held down an internship at Billionaire Boys Club/ Ice cream. Her constant networking helped increase her freelance gigs.

All around he city you can find flyer's with one of her many creative logos. She designs flyer's, websites, and logos for some of the city's hottest parties, DJ's and hosts, such as Dee and Ricky, Radio Rose, Yo Hablo Ingles at Fat Baby and Roxy Cottontail. She is known for her crazy graphic skills and produces amazing designs for street wear brands and boutiques here and in Japan. She has been heard saying, "My inspiration comes mainly for the Pop Art era. I love bright colored things, things that make people smile, designs that stand out."

This lady, whom you will probably spot rocking Red Lips and Pink Tips, even finds time to post glamorous goodies on her blog http://missierich.blogspot.com and spit a few freestyles if she is up for it.

She is a risk taker and doesn't follow the crowd. She stands out on her own and is just as colorful as her designs. An she can make one hell of a cupcake too!

WISHY WISH

My girl Wish has been putting in WORK! Traveling from gig to gig can be a challenge, but Wish makes it seem easy while looking AMAZING! Wish has recently put out "Skool Gurl Diaries Re-Loaded."

What you can expect from Skool Gurl Diaries are memorable melodies, brilliant harmonies, attacking vocals & ad libs, and a collection of short stories that most of us at one point in time have related to or be able to relate to. Loosely based on the "School Girl" mantra, each character Wish portrays in the album has her own story. Cheerleader. Nerd. Prom Queen. Everyday chick.

Wish states: "When I was in school, I held a lot of things back. Now I think its my turn to speak for the girls, women, & whoever else may have had trouble interpreting their feelings. I used to feel like I didn't fit in at school, & I think people think they're alone when in a moment like that. Young people have issues, and they need to feel like they're not wrong for feeIing certain ways or for being different. I wanna speak to those people."

I promise to keep you updated on here where-abouts, new music and behind the scenes footage.

In the meantime follow her @ www.twitter.com/wishishere

Love you WISH!! :)

IF YOU WANT US...YOU CAN FIND US IN THE A !!!!!!

WE HAVE TOUCHED DOWN IN ATLANTA, GA! AT TIMES WE FEEL AT HOME AND THEN AT TIMES WE FEEL LIKE THE OUTCASTS HERE. WE HAVE A SPACE LOCATED IN ONE OF THE MOST HISTORICAL AREAS OF GEORGIA, THE MLK DISTRICT. LITERALLY, ONE BLOCK AWAY, DR. KING AND HIS WIFE CORETTA ARE BURIED. WE ARE IN THE HEART OF THE OLD 4TH WARD, AND BEING HERE DRIVES OUR CREATIVITY EVEN MORE.

WE HAVE A FULL FASHION HOUSE HEAR IN ATLANTA. A RETAIL SPACE THAT WILL HOUSE THE ARCHIVES NEW YORK COLLECTION, ALONG WITH 5 OTHER NEW YORK DESIGNERS. THIS LOCATION WILL ALSO BE THE HUB FOR THE COMPLIMENTSBYDAY.COM SITE AND MAGAZINE. THE MOST AMAZING PART OF THIS MOVE TO ATLANTA IS THAT WE WILL BE THE ONLY LOCATION TO ALSO HAVE AN ON-SITE SAMPLE ROOM. NOW HOW DOPE IS THAT?!

YOU KNOW THAT THE ARCHIVES TEAM HAD TO MAKE A STATEMENT IN THE NEW NEIGHBORHOOD. SO UNDER THE VISUAL DIRECTION OF IN-HOUSE STYLIST SHAY BAKER, THE TEAM AGREED THAT THE WINDOWS WOULD NEED TO POP OFF OF THE STREET. WE MADE THAT STATEMENT BY DRESSING OUR FOUR "RED" MANNEQUINS TO THE NINES WITH A RANGE OF PIECES FROM THE DESIGNERS SOLD AT THE LOCATION.

Photobucket

NOW THAT WE ARE SETTLED IN THE SPACE, WE ARE PREPARING FOR ALL OF THE PROJECTS WE ARE HERE IN ATLANTA TO EXECUTE. FOR STARTERS, COMPLIMENTSBYDAY.COM WILL BE HAVING A SITE LAUNCH PARTY AT THE LOCATION DURING THIS MONTH. FOLLOWING WILL BE THE FASHION FIGHTS CANCER ATLANTA EVENT, BEING HELD IN NOVEMBER.

IN THE MEANTIME, THE ARCHIVES TEAM IS WORKING ON NOVELTY PIECES, AND COMPLETING WORK ON THE LINE'S FIRST VAULT. THE LOCATION CHANGED BUT NOT THE HUSTLE. WE ARE STILL PROVIDING THE SAME FULL SERVICES THAT ARTIFACTS LLC DID WHILE IN NEW YORK CITY. THE WORD IS SPREADING FAST ABOUT US BEING HERE...

A T L ...HOPE YOU ARE READY!

EASIER SAID THAN DONE

I am working on a fantabulous approach to the world's obsession with leggings and banging shoes!

ShayB'z, my answer for every lady who has a ton of shoes but she's just in the mood for something else on her feet, are in development. They are such a great idea, just a tad bit difficult to execute. (Trust..we will execute them!)

O'neal and I have been tossing around tons of ideas and designs for them, now its just a matter of finding fabric, trimmings, and tons more. The ideas are flowing at such rapid speeds that its hard for me to even get the ideas on paper. Or to even get out in the market to find my trimmings. Sidebar: Me in the fabric or trim store is like a kid in the candy store. Tons of goodies that add to my creative maddness.

I need to find the perfect materials so that I can "hit you with the Bamboo Banga!" as O'neal would say. Without the perfect materials, ShayB'z can come off looking half ass, and we don't do half ass!

I will keep you posted on the developments...of course they will be bomb!

Peace,

Sequin Dot

ARCHIVES THE COLLECTION FALL 2009 PREVIEW

what do YOU consider FASHION?!

PATRIK RZEPSKI

Today, everyone wants to be involved or associated with the fashion industry. Some are interested in just labels, luxury brands. And others are interested in construction, execution, creativity. Personally, I have gone through my "label whore" stage where it was all about only the most expensive garment and whom it was by. It was necessary to only be caught in the latest from a label in my favorite song or video. Now don't get me wrong, the Gucci's and Vuitton's rock my fashion world, but the label no longer dictates to me "what fashion is". Neither does the so called fashion bibles that grace the newsstands. I let my own taste dictate to me what I consider fashion. I look at labels so I can only reference designers. Fashion is in our faces all day. Everyone you see went out to purchase the items you see them in. And the look they put together for the day is how they are feeling, how they wanted to express themselves...fashion. I love the lines where they take risks and try new things. Where designers are not following the trends, they are creating them and pushing the fashion envelope by playing around with different textile, silhouettes. Lines such as Archives, Brze, Patrik Rzepski, Elise Overland, Erin Fetherson and tons more! So let your mind set you free and determine what YOU CONSIDER FASHION! Don't be afraid to take risks and go against the grain. Eventually, all of the others will catch up and you will be on to something new and exclusive by then!
peace!
